Obituary

Michael “Mike” Joe Lockett was born to Roy and Novell Johnson Lockett, on May 19, 1958, in Omaha, Texas.

Michael grew up in Lucas, Texas where he attended Princeton Elementary School and Princeton Middle | High School. He was a very energetic and adventurous child who loved to play and spend time with his sisters, many cousins, and friends.

Mike was a “jack of all trades”; he would fix and repair many things. He did home repairs, car repairs, electronics, bikes, apartment maintenance, and yard maintenance. Mike was a hard worker and hustler. He completed many odd jobs to ensure he had funds to pay his bills. He was super strong and often used his power to help family and friends, especially his sisters and nieces.

Mike had a way with words and was always rhyming and rapping. He would often refer to himself as “Dole-Mike” in reference to Dolemite who was a comedian and rapper in the 1970s. Mike also loved listening to music which he liked to play very loud sometimes.

Mike enjoyed spending time with his family at gatherings and celebrations. He also enjoyed fishing and would often go fishing with his sister, Carry.

Mike had many friends and was loved by many. He was always willing to help others- every opportunity he had.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lockett and Novell Johnson Lockett; sisters, Wanda Johnson, Annette White, and Carry Lee Lockett; and a brother, Roy Jr. Lockett.

He leaves the following to cherish his memory: his sisters, Cheyenne Lockett (Dallas, TX), Della Weatherspoon (Dallas, TX), Carry Boyd (Garland, TX), and Annie Lockett Addison (Dallas TX); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
