December 21, 1977 – November 8, 2024
Nikki, as she was affectionately known, was born in Dallas, Texas on
December 21, 1977, to the parentage of Dennis and Joanne Brown.
Nikki accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the
leadership of the late R. B. Brown of the Greater Calvary Baptist Church. In the early
2000s, Nikki joined Greater Peoples Baptist Church under the leadership of the late
Pastor Rodney J. Lott.
Nikki received her education through the Dallas independent school district, attending
T. D. Marshall and Clara Oliver Elementary School, Henry Longfellow Middle School,
Lawrence Academy, and South Oakcliff High School, where she graduated in 1996. She
attended Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas, and was a very proud
graduate of the Class of 2000, and a devoted alumna.
Nikki returned to Dallas and worked for the Dallas Independent School District and
met the love of her life, Melvin J. Showers. They were united in marriage, and God
blessed them with three magnificent sons.
She also worked for Delta Airlines. She later joined her husband in his entertainment
business, in addition to establishing a successful medical transport company,
transporting veterans to their doctors' appointments.
Nikki was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Melvin J. Showers and
Linda Reed Showers, and sister-in-law April Denise Showers, Mobile, Alabama.
Nikki leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband Melvin J. Showers
Jr., her most precious gifts from God, her sons John Christopher Showers, Jackson
Cooper Showers, Joseph Carter Showers. She loved her husband and her boys so very
much.
Nikki's memory is also cherished by her father, Dennis Brown Sr., mother, Joanne
Brown; brother, Dennis (Dawne) Brown Jr., Portsmouth, Virginia; stepsister, Tiffani
Brown; three nephews, Cole Brown, CJ Brown, and Xavier Carroll; five nieces, Dawne
Nicole Brown, Taylor Frances Woodie, Raelyn Brown, Korie Brown, and Micah Brown;
and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
