Obituary

Monique "Niquee" Ahmed-Darby, 53, of Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully, with her
loving family by her side on November 17, 2023, after complications from a traumatic
brain injury. Monique was born on October 16, 1970 to Adnen & Gloria Ahmed in El
Paso, TX. She was the fourth of five siblings. From a young age, Niquee was very
independent and had a unique personality. She was naturally funny and had a strong
will, but her connection and bond to her family was of great importance to her. Monique
had a very loving and protective nature. She was quite attached to her parents, and
loved helping them in the kitchen, but as the middle of three sisters, Niquee refused to
be dressed in matching outfits. It was important for her to stand out. Although she loved
to dress up and play with Barbies, she could also arm wrestle and rough-house with her
two older brothers. Niquee was like a warrior princess. Throughout her life, she was set
apart as a leader and not a follower. This mindset was instilled in her as a child and
followed her throughout her life.

In her youth, Monique was gifted with a natural athleticism and her trademark, strong
calves showcased her physical attributes and capabilities. She found an outlet for her
high energy and bold, determined attitude in sports, where she had success in
swimming, track, and shot put. Her desire to be independent saw her join the workforce
immediately after finishing high school in Houston, TX, where she worked several jobs
in the food industry and retail before eventually moving into management for Oshman's.
It was at this point in her life where she met the man who would later be her husband
and they would go on to raise a family of three children. Niquee was a devoted wife and
mother, prioritizing her family as a homemaker for many years, before moving to
Mesquite, TX. She then re-entered the workforce, as a successful manager for Uncle
Bob's Self-Storage, and was appreciated by all of her tenants. Subsequently, Monique
went into corporate security, a job she found to be meaningful.

Monique was famous for being friendly, inclusive, and a people person. She was
popular everywhere she went. Niquee had a great sense of humor and loved to joke
and make people laugh. She was someone you could always depend on, loyal and
faithful to her tribe and crew. Monique was a protector and defender of her family,
friends, and strangers. She was notorious for being a "good samaritan", helping those
she found in need, whenever possible. It was no secret that Niquee was an excellent
cook, known especially for making the tastiest tamales and her signature monster
cakes. She took pride in her culinary skills and enjoyed catering on occasion.

Monique loved and cherished her husband, children, family, and friends immensely. Her
greatest pleasure was spending her free time with her beloved grandchildren every
chance she could. They were the light of her heart and soul. You could often find
Niquee in the company of a great group of friends at the lake on the weekends.
Monique was predeceased by her loving father, Adnen, and sweet brother, Junior. She
is survived by her husband, Deldejean, children, Anthony, DelJeane, Dominick, and her
two grandchildren, Jeriah and Josie, mother, Gloria, siblings, Sherfic, Sophia, and
Marie. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her, especially her family, including
numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family throughout the
United States and abroad.
