Obituary

Norma Jean Nance-Nelson was born to the late John L. Nance and late VLee Pitts West on January 7, 1951 in Dallas, Texas.

Norma accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at an early age at Evening Chapel AME Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. As a young girl, she attended Dalworth Elementary School in Grand Prairie, TX. She was a graduate of North Grand Prairie School's Class of 1969.

Norma met and married Clyde Newman and to this union a son was born, Jerome Newman. Later in life, she met and married Jesse
Nelson. She and Jesse began their life together welcoming a beautiful daughter, Erica Nelson. She lovingly accepted her role as a wife and mother which brought so much joy in her life. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them.

Norma was employed at Arbrook Corporation and retired after working 20 years. There she was known as a beautiful soul who would help anyone. Her radiant smile lit up any room she entered.

Norma loved listening to music, cooking for her family, reading the Word and spending quality time with her children, grands and great grands. Affectionately known as 'Jeannie' to many, she was a loving, strong and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who had a heart of gold. She was a caring soul whose nurturing nature and selfless spirit were evident in her actions. She was always the one to offer wise advice, a listening ear, and unwavering support. She leaves behind a legacy of love and
wisdom to those who knew her.

Norma Jean Nance-Nelson transitioned from earth to glory on November 22, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Nelson; brothers, Leonard Stein Nance, John Clem Nance, Micheal Harrison, Mitchell Harrison and Rodney Henderson; sisters, Mattie I. Nance and Peggy Nance.
