Normia Jean Herod was born on July 16, 1935, in Montalba, Texas to the late Tommy and Gussie Williams. She received her education from Massey Lakes Schools and graduated from Plano Colored High School.

Normia accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful and devoted member of Hill Chapel CME Church under the leadership of Pastor Clarence Ford, Jr. She served in the church's choir diligently until her health began to decline.

Later in life, Normia met and later married John Herod, Sr. They remained faithful to each other until his passing in 2017. She was determined to make sure her family had everything they needed and were well taken care of. She worked at Marmon Motors for over 25 years until retiring in 1996. Normia loved Bingo, watching her soap operas, reading, and spending time with her family.

Those who preceded her are in death are, her parents Tommy and Gussie Williams; her husband John Herod, Sr.; son John Herod, Jr., and sister Erma Murphy.

Normia leaves to cherish her memories, her sons John Eddie-Quinn Williams, and Donald E. Herod; daughter Kimberly Strickland; grandchildren: John D. Herod III, Christopher P. Herod, Ashley N. Herod, Tory Strickland-Byrd, Daniel Herod, Tatyanna Strickland-Byrd, Mariah Herod, Trinity Strickland-Byrd, John Herod IV, and Kylar Herod; sisters: Ann Williams, Antoniee Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
