IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Otis Thomas
Smith
February 10, 1937 – September 11, 2025
Otis Thomas Smith was the fourth child of Harry Sr. and Alice Smith born on February 10,1937 in Centerville, TX. He was affectionately known as "O.T." by many.
O.T. received his formal education in Grand Prairie, TX. He was a graduate of Dalworth High School Class of 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Alvie Sirles and to this union three children were born.
O.T. was reared in a Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age and remained active in Faith throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, TX, and later moved his membership to New Hope Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, TX where he became a Deacon. Upon his death, he was a member of Grace Community Church of Trenton in Trenton, TX.
O.T. worked for many years at White's and Good Year as an auto mechanic before retiring. After retiring, he moved to the country where he loved gardening and working his land. He loved tending to his animals - horses, cows, chickens - and fishing from time to time. Often you would find him and his son, Chris watching their favorite Old Western television shows and especially watching his favorite sport's team DALLAS COWBOYS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Sr. and Alice Smith; wife, Alvie Smith; brothers, Harry Smith Jr., Jimmy Ray Smith, and James Author Smith; sisters, Pearlie Lee Price, Fannie Pearl Smith and Eunice M. Tapscott.
O.T. leaves the following to cherish his memory: daughters, Carolyn Renee Smith-Brackins and Michelle Marie Smith; son, Christopher Thomas Smith; brother, Mac Earl Smith; grandson, Brandon Lewis Brackins; and host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, many cousins and dear friends.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that O.T. lived fully, gave generously, and loved deeply. He will truly be missed by many and will live in our hearts forever.
