IN LOVING MEMORY OF

West
September 22, 1942 – June 28, 2025
Pearlleatha West was born on September 22, 1942, to the parents of Lizzie Bee Jones and James Threat in Memphis, Tennessee.
Pearlleatha spent her childhood in Memphis, TN. She accepted Christ at an early age at Lake Grove Baptist Church in Memphis; then joined New Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Frank Ray, Sr. also located in Memphis.
Pearlleatha moved to New York City, New York and began her career as a Telephone Operator and later was later promoted to 2nd black woman Foreman in the district at New York Telephone Company. She retired in 1995 after 28 devoted years.
Pearl, as she was affectionately known, was blessed with one beautiful daughter, Kim, whom she loved dearly. She cherished the role of a mother and later grandmother and great-grandmother and the love it brought. She found joy in spending time with her grandchildren, travel-ing and talking on the phone!
Pearl was known for her warm and caring personality. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She had a generous heart and was always ready to lend a help-ing hand to those in need.
On June 28, 2025, Pearlleatha made her transition from Earth's pain and suffering to Heaven's peace and glory. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Pearlleatha is preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister, Jearl; two brothers, Willie Threat and Michael Campbell.
Pearlleatha will be forever loved and remembered by her devoted daughter, Kim Sherdell James (Michael) of Carrollton, TX; three grandsons, Adam West (Sheridan) of Fort Worth, TX, Anthony James of Carrollton, TX and A'mory James of Arlington, TX; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her brother, James Threat (Patricia) of Daly City, CA; seven sisters, Susie Adway of Killeen, TX, Ollie Towns of Jamaica, NY, Mary Wallace, Beatrice Batts, Linda Grandberry, Terry Campbell all of Memphis, TN and Dorothy Cole-man of Olive Branch, MS; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
In our hearts, Pearlleatha lives on, and we will forever honor her lega-cy of love and kindness. May her memory be a blessing; may she rest in God's loving embrace.
