"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven. A time to be born." Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
Ponell Singleton was born to Miss Willie Mae Singleton on February 27, 1945 in Haynesville, Louisiana. His mother and one sister preceded him in death.
"And a time to die." Ecclesiastes 3:2 God in His infinite wisdom called Ponell from labor to reward on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Medical City Hospital Dallas in Dallas, Texas.
"When I was a child I spoke as a child, I though as a child…" 1 Corinthians 13:11 Ponell received his education in the Houston Public School System and then he later joined the United States Air Force. He completed his higher education at Texas Southern University.
"And another said I have married a wife and therefore I cannot come" Luke 14:20 Ponell was joined in holy matrimony to Emma Reid in 1973. To this union two children were born, Byron and Kimberly Singleton.
"But when I became a man, I put away childish things" 1 Corinthians 13:11 After Ponell finished school, he worked for Reed Tool Company, Texas Instruments, E-Systems, and Raytheon.
"…That whosever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16 In 1970, he united with the Baptist faith and was baptized in the Body of Christ. He joined the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. After moving to Dallas, he united with New Mount Zion Baptist Church.
"I will not leave you comfortless" John 14:18 Ponell will forever be remembered by his family who loved him. The memories will be remembered by his devoted wife, Emma; son Byron Singleton (Devon); daughter Kimberly Price (Broderick); two brothers: Alonzo Singleton of Los Angles, CA., and Anthony Singleton (Marie) of Houston, TX.; two granddaughters: Destiny Joy Leonard and Precious Leonard; two sister-in-law: Arlean Turner (Will) of Memphis, TN., and Jeri Arnold of Houston, TX.; two brother-in-law: Eddie Poindexter (Denise) of Phoenix, AZ., and Clarence Arnold of Houston, TX. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
