Renwick Earl Fennell was born in Dallas, Texas on May 2, 1959 to the parents of Sam Fennell Jr. and Birdietta Shotwell Fennell. Ren passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Ren as he was fondly called grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas and also attended public school there. As a young child, Ren was always inquisitive; he always wanted to know "WHY" and "HOW COME" no matter how well you answered his questions. Ren excelled in sports, he ran track for Sam Houston High School where he graduated from in 1977. He also tried his hand at playing the guitar and karate.
Growing up, Ren would spend his summers in Alto, Texas with his grandparents along with his cousins Coella Wells and Rayella Boyd. When he got older and learned to drive, he would often make the trip to visit other cousins. He also spent time with his grandparents the Fennell along with his 1st cousin, Ronnie, Sammie, Pam, Bobby, Thomas as well as the Fennell.
Upon graduating from high school, Ren was employed by several local businesses, always taking the opportunity to expand and learn more. One of the skills he picked up was auto mechanic. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks, tackling the most difficult jobs. He was always willing to help anyone who needed him.
Ren began his Christian walk at an early age; he attended New Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W.J. Shackleford. He was later baptized and united with Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship under Dr. Tony Evans
Ren met and married Joyce Simpson and to this union they had 2 children, Michael Olandus, and Shaquita LaShun. He later met and married Sharon Woods.
Ren was preceded in death by both parents and both paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his two children Michael (Francis), Shaquita, one brother Roderwick (Mellony), his uncle Robert Fennell, 7 grandchildren: Cesere, Jas'lynn, Dominique, Vivian, Jada, Cortez, and Cameron, two ex-wives: Joyce Fennell and Sharon Fennell and friend Brenda Johnson; one nephew and a host of nieces, cousins, and friends.
