Davis Jr.
March 19, 1932 – July 2, 2023
On July 2, 2023, Pastor Willie Davis Jr. bid farewell to his loan house on earth and
returned home to be with the Lord.
Willie Davis, Jr. was born March 19, 1932 to Willie Davis Sr. and Rochella Welcher in
Jackson, Mississippi. He was one of nine sisters and brothers. All of Willie's brothers
preceded him in death.
He accepted Christ at an early age. "Dav" as he was affectionately known, later served in the United
States Army. He later married Jimmy Ruth Henderson (preceded him in death) in Jackson,
Mississippi and to that union, five beautiful children were born.
Willie relocated to Los Angeles, California where he united with Bethany Baptist Church of West Los
Angeles. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Deacon and Minister. He also
taught Evangelism and A Short Life of Christ at Bethany Bible College and surrounding churches.
Minister Davis was elected Pastor of Christian Unity Baptist Church and served as the Pastor for 30
years. He later married Mildred Lewis and to this union they were blessed to add seven children to the
family.
Pastor Davis and his wife/family moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and united with Strong Tower
Ministries under the leadership and care of Bishop A.W. Flowers and Pastor Deborah Whitaker. He
served in whatever way he could until his
health declined.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willie
Davis, Sr. and Rochella Welcher Davis;
daughter Marquessa Morris; son Jessie
Grigsby; brothers Alexandra Davis, James
Davis, Willie Andrew Davis.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Mildred;
loving children Tammy, Bruce (Susan),
Yolanda, Jackie, Olivia, Inette, Willie, Darnell,
Myrna and Maurice (Valerie).
He leaves to cherish his memories sisters:
Earnestine, Rose, Annie Caral, Gertrude,
Dorothy and a special sister Earnestine; special
nieces Larinda and Sandra; twenty-nine
grandchildren; twenty-seven great
grandchildren and one great, great grandchild;
and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and
friends.
He's Gone; But to be remembered for his love
of the Lord and for his likeness of being a
comedian. He loved people and wants to see
all of us in Heaven.
