Obituary

Rev. Charles James, Osborne was born on March 4, 1950, to Birdie Lee and Belton J. Osborn in Elgin, Texas. He was raised in Elgin and was known by all those in the town as "Big O".

Rev. Osborne received his education in the Elgin Public School System and graduated from Elgin High School in 1968. While in school he was an all-star football player for the school's team. After graduating high school, he went on to attend Dallas Baptist College where he graduated in 1981, he then went on to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and later graduated in 1983. He was working on his Doctorate at Southwestern before his passing.

Rev. Charles was baptized at the age of 6 years old at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Elgin, Texas. His goal was to become a surgeon, but God had other plans for his life. He accepted his call into the ministry at the age of 26 and hit the ground working for his Saviour. Rev. Osborne was an active and faithful member of The ANF Church under the leadership of Dr. Robert Canady where he was very active in ministry and served as the Minister of Pastoral Care, Sunday School Superintendent, and was a part of the Evangelism Ministry. He also served in his community as the Garland Democratic Precinct President. He lived a life of service and was dedicated to the work of Christ. He was an English teacher for many years, but his true passion was working as a mouthpiece for God.

On December 23, 1978, Rev. Charles J. Osborne, Sr. united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Elethia M. Osborne. They were blessed to have three beautiful children.

Rev. Charles will be missed by all those whose lives he touched and blessed. His smile, voice, laughter, and wisdom touched not only his family and friends but anyone that had the privilege of coming in contact with him. He enjoyed life and the things that came with it. He loved to fish, write, teach, playing tennis, doing woodwork, going hunting, and spreading the love of Christ.

On September 11, the Lord saw Rev. Osborne getting tired and called Him to his eternal home in Heaven. He will be greeted at Heaven's gates by, his wife Elethia Osborne, parents Belton and Birdie Osborn, two sisters Margie Tate, Linda Preston, and brother Marlon Osborn.
