Robert Lewis
Brown
February 5, 1933 – August 12, 2025
Robert Lewis Brown was born in Ravenna, Texas to Tommie Owens and Theodore R Brown.
He grew up in Bonham and attended Booker T. Washington School. He joined the United States Army in April of 1953 as military police and fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in April of 1955.
After serving in the Army, he moved to Grand Prairie, Texas with his first wife Jimmie Brown, where they welcomed their one and only child, Theodore L. Brown on August 9th, 1964, who was the biggest blessing sent from God.
Robert worked as one of the first black police officers at the Grand Prairie Police Department. He later went to work for Moore's Funeral Home in Arlington, TX. After providing service at the funeral home, he became employed with Graft Chevrolet, and finally Southwestern Bell where he retired in 1994 after working there for 37 years.
As a dedicated member of St. John Church Unleashed, he faithfully served as a Trustee and sung in the male choir. He was also a big part in helping with different needs of the church. In 2008, Robert married his second wife Ola Brown, who he remained happily married until her passing in February 2025.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Tommie Owens and father, Theodore R Brown; his first wife, Jimmie Brown; son, Theodore L. Brown; second wife Ola Brown; two sisters, Marilyn Finnie and Josephine Phea; stepdaughter, Mia Coggan and stepson, Richard Boone.
Robert's memory will be forever cherished by his grandchildren Marisha Brown, Chris Shaw, Don Brown, Tajare Moorehead (J.J.), Chelsey Hayes, Timmia Black-Phillips, Kristin Shifflett (Jonah), Alyssa Boone, who bought him immense joy. He was also blessed with great grandchildren, Laniyah Shaw, Demajae Brown, Shamari Gaither, Brandon Gaither Jr., Gavin Taylor, Ellie Taylor, D'Metri Phillips Jr., Jacelynn Moorehead, Kynslie Shifflett, Karter Shifflett; stepchildren, Raquel Hayes and Kenneth Boone; daughter-in-law, Patricia Dixon Brown.
Additionally, Robert is survived by his beloved siblings, Paul Brown, Rose Ransom, Linda Givens, Joyce Woods, James TC Henson and Laquetta Dukes. He is remembered by an abundance of nieces and nephews whom he cherished.
Robert has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be greatly missed. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him!
