IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodney Fernard
Mcgee
May 4, 1964 – July 25, 2019
Rodney Fernard McGee "Johnny" was born May 4, 1964 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He moved to Grand Prairie, Texas at an early age, where he was raised in the Dalworth Community. Johnny graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1982 and later enlisted in the United States Army.
Johnny later moved to Duncan, Oklahoma where he developed a passion for "country living." He loved to fish, hunt and rope cattle. He was so committed to the country living that you would often find dogs, horses, chickens and even roosters in his backyard. Kids loved to go to his home, because he would teach them all about living the country life.
Johnny was full of talent. He quickly developed a love for musical instruments. This love forced him to form an in-house band by learning how to play the guitar, drums, and keyboard. He loved to entertain.
Although, Spikes Street was where his home as a child was located, it was also the meeting place for his family and friends to battle it out on the domino and card table. It was often lots of trash talking, laughter and snacks. He had the biggest heart and was the proudest "pawpaw" to his grandchildren. Some of their favorite things to do together was fishing, hitting golf balls across the field, feeding the dogs and taking the eggs from the chicken coop.
On July 25, 2019, Johnny traded in his fishing poles, drumsticks, guitar pic and cowboy boots in for his golden crown. Whether you knew him as Rodney, Johnny, Mikey, Geebird, OG or Kyng Johnny, you were blessed to know a true legend.
He is preceded in death by his brother Frank "Buck" McGee, Jr.; grandparents: John and Elzora Williams and Rev. Worth and Verda McGee.
Precious memories of Johnny will be cherished by, his parents Frank and Donna McGee; siblings: Tamala (Tammy) Nicholson; Angie Hamilton and Alicia DeVaull (Darryl); Johnny was an amazing father to his two boys: Dameion Jackson and Fradon McGee. He also leaves behind six beautiful grandchildren, a host of relatives, friends and lifelong buddies: Billy "Still Bill" Brown, John Casey, Harry Spivey and Herbert Goodrich.
