IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roosevelt Haywood,
Jr.
January 11, 1971 – June 22, 2022
Roosevelt Haywood Jr. was the first of seven children born to Roosevelt Haywood, Sr., and Thelma Seaton, on January 11, 1971. He was born and was predominantly raised in Mound Bayou, Mississippi (a historic Black township).
'Haywood', as he was called by many throughout his life, attended schools in both Mississippi and in the Chicago area. He graduated from John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in 1990 and in enlisted in the United States Army in 1991. He served dutifully for 4 years and served 4 more years in the Army Reserves. While living in Texas, Roosevelt began a career at Wal-Mart and Worked at the Texas Youth Commission, in Mart, Texas.
In 2003, Roosevelt married Kristy Hilliard and they raised seven children. Together they embarked on many journeys and adventures… with lots of love and laughter. Roosevelt was active in various churches and enjoyed mentoring youth and assisting in community service. He spent his latter months at True Faith Church, Dallas, Tx, and considered it his Church home.
He is preceded in death by, his mother Thelma Seaton Haywood, sister Carolyn Haywood Shepherd, and brother Jamal Haywood.
Roosevelt Haywood is survived by his wife, Kristy Haywood; his children: Aaliyah, Aamya, Nate, Josh, CJ, Trey, and Jaylan; his father Roosevelt, Sr; his sisters: Angie and JoAnn; his brothers: Boxer and Matt, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousin, nephew, nieces, and friends.
