On August 28, 1955, born into this world, a child named Rose Marie Hughes was to her earthly father, Bob Chester Hughes and her earthly mother, Mary Lee Scarlett. She was the 8 ^th child born into this very close-knit family.

She grew up in the Church of Christ and heard the Word of God and obeyed the Gospel of Christ at the age of 12 years old. She was determined to live her life according to the Will of God and God blessed her with wisdom and understanding. (Proverbs 3:13)

She graduated from Wharton High School in May of 1974 and she waited a semester before starting college in January 1975. After 2 ½ years of hard work and studying, she received her Associate of Applied Science in Medical Records Technician from Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas on May 20, 1977. After graduation, she was married and moved to Dallas, Texas in May 1977.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bob Chester Hughes, Sr. and Mary Lee Scarlett Hughes and her sister Evelyn Faye King.

Rose leaves to cherish her memories and love, her husband Will S. Chavis "Spence"; son Dallas Chavis; two brothers: Bob Chester Hughes and George "Sunny" Washington Hughes; five sisters: Lola Krushall, DeLories Lee, Mary E. "Beth" Jimenez, Helen Joyce Citizen and Linda "Lynn" Marie Sanders; best friend Brenda Kay Scarlett and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
