IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rowena
Green
January 18, 1934 – October 17, 2024
We bid farewell to Rowena Randall Green, an amazing and selfless
mother, an affectionate and supportive grandmother, a loving and
loyal friend who departed from this world on Thursday, October 17,
2024.
Rowena Randall was born January 18, 1934 to the parentage of Dock
and Genevie Randall. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington
High School.
Other than her relatives, very few people knew her name because
regardless of how she was introduced, she would she tell them 'you
can call me Meme'. She made herself a grandmother to almost every
child she met. Over the years she cared for 15 or more children until
they were of school age. We won't call what she did babysitting
because a babysitter does not have the love that she had for (as she
called them) 'my kids'! Also a babysitter would not try to tell a
parent how they should care for and dress their own children. She
cared for 'her kids' until she was no longer physically able.
Rowena loved traveling with her children, taking road trips and
flights to Corpus Christi, Mexico, Chicago, Florida, California, Las
Vegas, Colorado and a fun filled Girls Cruise.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Henry Lee
Collins and George (Red) Collins, her husband Taft (TJ) Green and
her son Michael Green.
Rowena leaves to cherish her memories her son, Ronnie Green
(Katrina); daughters, Georgia Jones, Carol Taylor (Doug) and Kalitta
Barton (Greg); six grandchildren, Adrian Green (Ursula), Krista
Green, Darius Taylor, Duriel Ashford (Kristin), Tracee Green and
Tytania Sherwood; eight great grandchildren who were the love and
light of her life and the reason she fought to stay with us for 90 years.
Also left to treasure her memories are a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and family friends.
