A Glimpse at the Life of Ruby Nell Baker
Ruby McKinzie was born December 9, 1945 in Montalba, Texas to
Jack and Jerline (Scott) McKinzie; she was the oldest of this union.
Ruby received her diploma of Education at Fredrick Douglas High
School in Plano, Texas. She entered the workforce and later was hired
at US Brass where she worked for thirty plus years and retired in 2001.
Her second career took place at Shepton High School where she was
"the lunch lady" for another ten years, retiring in 2011. As a way for
her to give back, she became a caregiver for the Browns as well as LH
and Dorothy Drake.
Ruby meet the LOVE of her life Alger Ben Baker as a young Lady and
a year later they were married and started their lives together and bore
four beautiful children. In the LOVE story of Ben and Ruby they
reared several children and assisted many family members emotionally
and financially throughout their fifty-eight years. Their LOVE was
always present with family and friends.
Ruby donated annually to KNON to help support the local Blues radio
station amongst other charities. She also enjoyed spending her time
with family and friends playing cards, playing music, attending
concerts, going to the Casino and spending time at the family farm
(Montalba).
Ruby left this earth hand in hand with the Lord on February 1, 2023 in
Plano, Texas. She was proceeded in death by her parents Jack and
Jerline McKinzie; sister Sherry McKinzie Rolen, sister Mattie Joe
McKinzie and grandson Alger Ben Baker III.
Those left to cherish her sweet memories are her loving husband Alger
Ben Baker, Sr. Plano, Texas; son Alger Ben Baker Jr (Allison) Plano,
Texas; daughter Carnelia Baker Riverside, CA; daughter Dosslin
Baker Williams (Dennis) Carrollton, Texas; son Christopher Baker
(Jean) McKinney, Texas; grandchildren Raquel Baker Morgan (Jeff)
Iowa, Cornell Hutchinson Garland, Texas, Alexander Baker Plano,
Texas, and Ethan Baker of McKinney, Texas; great grandchildren
Braylyn, Wynter, Taylyn, and Tymare Morgan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa
and a host of brothers and sisters, a pleather of nieces and nephews.
