Obituary

Shantelle Antjuanette Renee Burns was born on November 6, 1984 to Catherine
Renee Burns and Randy Dean Phillips. She was born a sweetheart, so much so that
by age 2 everyone affectionately referred to her as Candy. She was born at
Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was formally educated in Grand Prairie
ISD. She excelled in academics and was a shining star in track, volleyball and cheerleading. In
2003, Candy graduated from Grand Prairie High School. Shantelle went on to become a
paralegal.

Candy was introduced to the love of her life on August 17, 1999. Her sister Cookie yelled out,
"Hey Yellow Boy, my sister likes you." From that moment on, two hearts were joined into
eternity. Candy and Jason went on to marry and their union was blessed with 4 amazing sons.
Shantelle's primary focus, once becoming a wife and mother, was her family. She loved and
nurtured them without wavering. If you had the pleasure of knowing Candy you can attest to
the love she radiated, especially concerning her husband and "crew." Shantelle would do
anything for the people she loved. She had many friends that became as close as family. Some
of Candy's favorite hobbies included watching movies and shows with her husband and the
boys. Most recently they were watching the series "Baddies." They also loved spending time
teaching the boys life skills. Gardening was something they shared a passion about. Candy
would light up with excitement describing her garden's success. Shantelle was a pro in the
kitchen! Jason and Candy complemented each other in so many ways, magically in the kitchen.
Candy loved to tell you all about how Granny taught her to cook at a young age, while she was
whipping up a masterpiece. Consider yourself lucky if you ever attended one of Candy and
Jason's infamous BBQs or seafood boils. Candy lived for being together with family and
friends. Holidays were some of her favorite times and she loved hosting.

Candy took parenthood seriously, so much so that she nicknamed her firstborn Duty because it
was her 'proud duty' to love and care for him. She was profoundly excited and proud about
each new addition to her family. Her sons never had to question if they were loved, she
demonstrated and communicated love to them on a daily basis.

Shantelle mostly referred to her husband as "Babe". She loved her husband with the AGAPE
love that is described in the Bible. Their love is the most beautiful example of soul mates, best
friends, companions, confidants, lovers and parents. Shantelle loved for Jason to sing to her.
When you saw Candy, you saw Jason. Candy and Jason made a point to put each other first,
enjoy the small things, celebrate the big things and stand together during the hard things. They
dated each other regularly. They made each other better. Candy was passionate, forgiving,
caring, and giving. Her heart was solid gold. She loved helping people. Rather family, friend,
or stranger; if Candy was aware of a need she would help without hesitation. Candy was
reliable almost to a fault. You could count on Shantelle. Extremely intelligent and great
communicator, she offered great advice and also was a great listener. She also loved to share a
good laugh. Her smile and laugh was contagious. She loved to greet you with a warm hug and
a compliment.

Candy was a loyal and loving granddaughter and daughter. She and her mom spoke daily and
share an unbreakable bond. Candy grew up very close to her siblings. Her and her sisters were
three peas in a pod. The inseparable trio were affectionately and commonly known as "Cuda,
Cookie and Candy". She adored her big brother, Randy. "Nanny Candy" was another one of
her names. Ask any of her many nieces and nephews and they will tell you how instrumental
Nanny Candy was in their upbringing. After meeting and marrying her life partner, Candy
became just as close to Jason's mom and siblings. It would be an understatement to say to
know Shantelle is to love Shantelle. Shantelle was love. Shantelle is love. Shantelle will
always be loved and never forgotten. She and her husband laid the foundation for a beautiful
and impactful legacy. Her husband and boys will continue to make her proud. Candy lived a
beautiful life full of love. She would not want anyone she loved to be sad for too long. Take a
bow now beautiful and get your rest. LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK.
