Obituary

Shirley Kent Rattler was born August 10, 1952, in Vivian, Louisiana to the parentage of Linda Mae Rattler and Willie D Rattler, Sr. She was the fifth of seven siblings.

Shirley received her formal education in Vivian, Louisiana, where she graduated High School. She moved to Texas and started her career in Medical Records at Presbyterian Hospital in Plano. She enjoyed working until her retirement in 2017.

Shirley accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Plano, TX where she continued her relationship with Christ under the leadership of Pastor Isiah Joshua, Jr.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who loved spending time with her grandkids, as well as family. She embodied love and patience in their truest forms – graceful, dignified, and endlessly compassionate. Shirley was known for her infectious laugh and warm
smile. She could light up the room for anyone in her presence, leaving a lasting impression of joy and kindness. The true beauty and essence of Shirley was that she kept going no matter what obstacle she faced.

On December 23, 2025, Shirley unexpectedly passed away at her home in Plano, TX. She will be greeted at Heaven's gates by her mother, Linda Mae Rattler; father, Willie D Rattler Sr., daughter, Antoinette Marie Galantine; grandson, Chandler Elias Jones; one brother, Willie D Rattler, Jr.; and one sister, Lillie Pearl Lott.

Her legacy and precious memories will live on in the hearts of her loving daughters, Trishstan Holmes of Houston, TX and Kylei Holmes of Allen, TX and ten grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Also left behind to cherish her precious memories are her three sisters, Annie Mae Gladney of Haughton, LA, Martha Robinson of Sacramento, CA, Lillie Gibson of Ohio; one brother, Andrew Rattler of Shreveport, LA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Shirley is gone from our sight, but not from our hearts. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
