IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Fay
Wright
January 24, 1952 – September 29, 2025
Shirley Fay Taylor-Wright was born January 24, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas to the parentage of Orneld D. "O.D." and Mary Ella Taylor. She grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas.
She received her formal education in the Irving ISD – Bear Creek. She was a graduate of MacArthur High School in Irving, TX. She was a social but-terfly and a track and field star.
Throughout her life, Shirley was a homemaker who prioritized being at home and making home a loving and enjoyable place to be for her and her children. In 1997, she met Bruce Walton, and they remained a happy, lov-ing couple for 30 plus years.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sis-ter, and friend whose kindness and laughter touched all who knew her. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, eating and rearing children. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unforgettable memo-ries that will remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Orneld D. "O.D." and Mary Ella Taylor; her beloved daughter, Lisa Wright; and a grandson Darius Novell.
Shirley leaves the following to cherish her memory: two sons, Joe Paul Wright, Jr. and Brock Wright; a special daughter, Lamesa Oliver; four granddaughters, Clameka, Jasmine, Jaidah and Janaiya; two grandsons, Tevin and DeVonte; and five great grandchildren, Geraci, Sevyn, Brynlee, Kashis and Neveah all whom she loved dearly.
She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Vince Taylor (Tracy), Linda Barner, Dennis Taylor (Toshi), Sandra Taylor (Arthur Wayne); and host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Shirley lived life fully, gave generously, and loved deeply. She will truly be missed by many and will live in our hearts forever.
