IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tawana Renee
Hall-Johnson
January 21, 1962 – November 15, 2019
Tawana was born January 21, 1962, in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Yvonne Franklin and Thomas D. Hall, both preceded in death.
Tawana grew up in the Dalworth community of Grand Prairie, Texas, and after the passing of her mother, was raised by maternal great grandmother Iola Reed in Los Angeles, California and subsequently Houston, Texas. She ultimately became a resident of Dallas, Texas until she peacefully entered into her rest at 5:36 am, November 15, 2019.
Tawana, aka Tidy, was a rambunctious, free-spirited and very vocal child – you know that's code for stubborn. Legend has it that her neatness and attention to detail earned her the nickname of "Tidy", that she has lovingly been called to this day. Tidy was baptized at Evening Chapel AME Church at a young age, was in the Sunbeam Choir at 2nd AME Church in Los Angeles California, and attended Valley View Middle School in Hollywood, California where she rubbed chalkboards with the children of movie stars – one of the highlights of her time in California. Tawana graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1980 and went on to attend El Centro College. In 1985, she began what would be a 35-year career at Parkland Memorial Hospital where she was so lovingly cared for in her final days.
In May of 1994, Tawana united in holy matrimony with Steven Johnson, of Duncan Oklahoma. The loves of her life included her beloved pet Cody, her family, friends, and godchildren. She loved her "selfies", taking pictures of unsuspecting family members, was the proud keeper of the family history, and was always the life of the party. Tawana will be best remembered by her gentle spirit, kind heart, vivacious personality, signature brows, and a million-dollar smile.
Tawana leaves to cherish her memory husband Steven Johnson; Brother, Rickey James Hall (Tracey) of Fort Worth; Sisters: Linda Moncriffe of Arlington, Cheryl Jones (Jackie) of Garland, Bridgette Davis and Florence Hill-Washington (Edgar) of North Richland Hills; Beloved nieces, LaShonda (Ashia and Ashton), Genaye (Dutch), Chrislyn, Jessica (Ezzy) and Arlexis; Nephews: Starsky (Kristin and Hutch), Geraye (Caleb, Jayson, Carrington), Alvin (Alecia, Xzander, Sky, Maliah) LaMarcus, Terrance, Andreas, and Alan; Brannita Porter (Kennedy, Abrianna, Sydney), Branndon Birdine, and Dereke Bogier (Cari). Family Patriarchs Dr. Charles Harrison (Shirley) of Grand Prairie, and Uncle, Davie Harrison of Fort Worth. Children she loved as her own: Courtney, Crystal, Tierra, Darrielle, and Terrence. Devoted friends Karla Madra, Denetrice Isaac-Johnson, and Sherrilyn Thomas; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, co-workers, and life-long friends.
Our sorrow is made easier knowing Tawana is with Jesus, reunited with our mother Yvonne (Beatie), and with siblings Cescily Yvonne, Sherry Michelle, and Terry Lynell. Farewell Tidy, until we meet again!
