Velma Lucille Beard was born on June 3, 1934 to the parents of Rosa Bell and Azzie Hill.

Velma grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas in the Dalworth Community.

Velma accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Jubilee United Method Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Davis, Jr.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, Rosa Bell and Azzie Hill; brother Royal Lea Hill; sisters Gladys Robinson and Lois Hill and her daughter Mary Louis Calton.

Velma leaves to cherish her memories seven children: Earnestine Harris (John), Willie Calton (JoAnn), Clementine Calton, Clarence Beard (Vicki), Debra Allen, Gloria Beard Crain (Steve), and Melvin Garrett; twenty-five grandchildren; seventy-one great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
