Obituary

Victoria Michelle Deckard Walter was born February 18, 1966, in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Leroy (Bud) Deckard, Sr. and Doris Harrison Deckard. She grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas (Dalworth Community). She received her education from the Grand Prairie Independent School District, where she graduated from Grand Prairie High School in May 1984. Victoria married William Lee Walter on February 18, 2000.

At a very early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Saviour. She was a faithful steward in the church, a lifetime member of Evening Chapel AME Church in Grand Prairie, TX. She was an Alternate Delegate for the North Texas 10 th District Annual Conference, a member of the Women's Missionary Society, and a member of the choir. She was always helping in the Fellowship Hall during church events. She loved to cook and enjoyed serving others. Her favorite song was "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross" and her favorite scripture was the 23 rd Psalm.

She loved playing Bingo and often would sing "She's A Brick House" 44-44-44 or whenever the song hit the radio. She loved to play cards and claimed to be the #1 Spade player in the world. And had trophies to prove it (although we never saw the trophies). She loved her family and never met a stranger. She was a social butterfly and the life of the party! She will be greatly missed.

Victoria departed this life on Thursday, December 31, 2020. She is preceded in death by her father Leroy Deckard, Sr., mother Doris Harrison Deckard, brother-in-law Willie Price and Joe Hill.

Those left to cherish her memories are her faithful and loving husband William Lee Walter; four children: Toborice Walter, Sr. (Niesha), Sherie Harris, Nickelle Davis (Rodney), and Demeshia Thomas; seven siblings: Peggy Ann Price, Gloria Ann Hill, Joan Battee (Bobbie), Judy Ann Jackson (Jesse), Annette Marie Deckard, Leroy Deckard, Jr., and Doris Gale Deckard (Candace Coker-Deckard); grandchildren: David James, Jr., Dynver James, Zyesha Ross-Walter, Tabarein Walter, Shabaria Walter, Toborice Walter, Jr., and Rodney (RJ) Davis; in-laws: Alice Hall, Linda Brooks (Tony), Minnie Houston, Betty Walter, Eula Harrison (William) Elijah Walter, Jr., Daniel Walter, Sr. (Leryl), Darren Walter, Sr. (Marva), Yolanda Walter - Wigenton (Kenneth), and Gary Cauley (DeWanna). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the Evening Chapel AME Church Family.
