Walter "Ducey" Chapman died at home with
his family.
He was born to the parentage of Jesse and
Pearl Chapman of Waynesboro, Mississippi, on November 20, 1933.
His parents preceded him in death, along with two daughters, Bobbie
Jean Thomas (Laurel, Mississippi) and Eva Mae Haynes (Dallas,
Texas); three brothers, James (Boot) Chapman (South Carolina), Jack
Chapman (Hawanee, Mississippi), Willie B. Chapman (Laurel,
Mississippi); and sister, Bernice Chapman (Hawanee, Mississippi).
Ducey was a kind person who always enjoyed helping others. He was
a loving father and well-known in his community in Laurel,
Mississippi.
Due to his ill health, he moved from Laurel, Mississippi, in 2008 to
Dallas, Texas, at the age of seventy-five. He lived in Dallas for over
sixteen years.
At the age of 90 years old, the Lord called him home to rest.
Ducey is the father of six children – surviving children, Gloria Tillis
(Amit, Louisiana), Lionel Tillis (Amit, Louisiana), Mary Chapman
(John) Robledo, Alicia Chapman Keyes (Laurel, Mississippi), and
Regina (Roger) Day (Dallas, Texas); grandchildren, Nashica House,
Jerry House, Jr., Jonas House, Aquavia Keyes, Daniel Keyes, Joshua
Haynes, Shadana Haynes Gonzales, Brandon Haynes, Tyra Day,
Roger Day, and Roderick Day; along with a host of
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
