Wanda was born December 19, 1949 in Tyler, TX to Jessie Joe and Myrtle Rollins. Wanda grew up in the Dalworth Community in Grand Prairie, TX. At an early age, she was baptized at St. John Missionary Baptist Church (St John Church Unleashed) where she was an usher and member of the choir. She attended school in the Arlington Independent School District and I. M. Terrell – Fort Worth, graduating from Sam Houston High School.

At an early age, Wanda married James Hartfield and to this union, three children were born. After several years of marriage, they divorced. Then she met and married the love of her life, Samuel Thompson of 33 years. With this union, a blended family was established. They later moved from Arlington to Terrell. Wanda worked for Terrell Housing Authority for 25 years and retired December 2014. To continue their walk with the Lord, Sam and Wanda moved their membership to Union Valley Missionary Baptist in 1994, where she remained a faithful servant until her transition.

Wanda leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Samuel Thompson, children Joseph (Mia) Hartfield, Jessica Hartfield, Justin Hartfield. Blended children Tina Irvine (Lamon), Rodney (Tina), Ronnie, Rhonda Thompson, and Samantha Moore. Grandchildren: (Joe) Brandan, Aaron and Corey; (Jessica) Terrell and Keion; (Justin) Brooklyn; (Tina) Donovan and Donetra Irvine; (Samantha) Alexandria and Jayden Hancock; Siblings Theresa Thomas (Larry), Minnie Burks, Rochelle Hightower (Anthony) and Tony Rollins and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
