Willie Nix was born in 1952 in Fayette, Mississippi, to the late Gertilee and David Mitchell. He grew up in a loving family and attended Ferriday High School in Ferriday, Louisiana, where he formed many of the life long relationships that would shape his journey.
In 1986, Willie married the love of his life, Vickie, in Dallas, Texas. Together they built a strong and enduring union that became the cornerstone of his life. Willie accepted Christ at a young age, and althoughhis faith began early, he found renewed strength and a deeper relationship with God in his later years.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Willie pursued many pathsthroughout his life. He owned and operated N and V Construction, where he took pride in building with his hands and serving his community. He later obtained his CDL and drove 18 wheelers, embracing the open road with determination and skill. In his later years, he served faithfully as a security professional, known for his reliability and commitment to protecting others.
Willie had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing—one of his greatest joys. His natural talent for repairing motor vehicles was well known, and family and friends often turned to him for his expertise and generous willingness to help.
Willie is preceded in death by his mother, Gertilee Mitchell; father, David Mitchell; sister, Earline Mitchell; brother, David Nix; daughter, Shondra Tyler; and nephew, Donny Mitchell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Vickie Nix; daughters, Yolanda Hendrix,Tamara Perry (Aaron), and Natasha Nix; son, Willie Nix III (Olivia); and five beloved grandchildren,Daejon Wilson, Madelynn Tyler, Journee Perry, William Nix, and Robyn Nix.
Willie is also survived by his sisters, Delois Roberson
(Lester), Shirley Reed (John), Lillian Lewis, Lois
King (Tony), and Aretha Jefferson (David); his brothers, JC Nix, Albert Mitchell, and John Mitchell,; Felicia Tennessee-Mack, Kenneth Tennessee, Marvin Tennessee, Chris Reed, Krystal Mitchell, Johnesia Mitchelland a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Willie's presence, wisdom, and love touched many lives. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
