IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Rattler
Jr.
December 13, 1942 – January 15, 2025
Brother Willie Daniel Rattler, Jr., affectionately known as Dad, Papa, Brother, or just plain old Mr. Rattler earthly landing was on December 13, 1942, to the parentage of the late Willie Rattler, Sr. and Linda Mae Rattler in Vivian, Louisiana.
Willie was baptized at an early age at the New Hope Baptist Church in Vivian, Louisiana. Later, he became a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Isiah Joshua, Jr.
Willie received his formal education in Vivian, Louisiana. He was a graduate of High School. After high school, he joined The United States Army in Fort Braggs, NC. He served in the Vietnam War and participated in the civil rights movement. Mr. Rattler witnessed incredible movements in the nation's history. He was issued a parachutist badge for being fully dedicated to jumping out of planes during the war. After his tours of service were concluded, he attended Oregon State University and earned a degree in Engineering. He became a Technical Writer for Tandem Computers which later became known as Hewlett Packard. Mr. Rattler was a computer engineer who traveled all over the world teaching others how to operate and maintain computer towers. He was a well-known teacher whose training manuals are still used today. He also gave back to the community as a PAL football coach from 1980-1995.
Willie married Joyce "" on March 18, 1978. From this union of love, four children were born: three sons and one daughter.
Mr. Rattler was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and coach. Mr. Rattler's long-lived legacy and most precious memories will always remain in the hearts of his devoted wife, Joyce Rattler; his loving children: three sons, Robert (Keisha) Simmons of Mckinney, TX, Gilate (Cindy) Rattler of Manteca, CA, Jabari (Erica) Rattler of Cypress, TX; one daughter, Roshanna Rattler of Plano, TX.
Also left behind the cherish his precious memories: four sisters, Annie Mae Gladney of Haughton, LA, Martha Robinson of Sacramento, CA, Shirley Rattler of Plano, TX, Lillie Gibson of Ohio; one brother, Andrew Rattler of Shreveport, LA; twelve grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Willie Rattler, Sr. and Linda Mae Rattler; one son, Gilate Rattler; one niece, Antoinette Marie Galantine and one sister, Lillie Pearl Lott.
